Oral Biopsy
As advocates for good oral health, we strongly recommend regularly checking the roof of the mouth, tongue, gums and cheek tissue on a regular basis. We note any changes and look for growths, discoloration or ulcerations. When a concern is discovered, a consultation with an oral surgeon may be necessary.
While in most cases, growths are benign, an oral biopsy may be needed to confirm. With an oral biopsy, the surgeon removes a small sample of tissue from the area or areas of concern. This tissue is then sent to a medical lab for tests and diagnosis.
